This past spring, Facilities Services received a request for building improvements and maintenance at the Oak Creek Center for Urban Horticulture. Al Shay, senior horticulture instructor, was concerned about several aging structures on the property. Projects included roof replacement, rust proofing and sealing, painting, window replacement, lighting improvements and more.  The project was funded in part by the pest management program, which utilizes facilities at the Oak Creek Center.  Kevin Christman, trades and maintenance coordinator, led a team of 14 staff from Facilities to complete the projects.

In addition, Facilities Services staff are installing an air conditioning system and new flooring at the Apiary Building to create a comfortable and modernized working environment for students and faculty who are learning, teaching and conducting critical research at the facility.

Shay is very pleased with the progress made so far and praised Facilities Services as professional and caring.

“I can’t thank OSU Facilities, Joe Majeski and Kevin’s team enough for an absolutely superior experience,” Shay said.
