University Facilities, Infrastructure and Operations

It is with great pleasure to present JR (Rafael) Mendoza for our Facilities Services employee spotlight. JR works hard every day and he is very committed to high quality work and excellent customer service! JR has been a strong mentor to our student painters, he coaches and guides them to learn and improve their work. Recently when asked about F&A employee appreciation breakfast and whether the student painters were signed up, we were pleased to learn that JR had already taken the initiative to sign up all the student employees who worked for him to make sure they wouldn’t miss out. A recent OSU graduate and a former Facilities student painter who landed a job in his field called and said how he misses the camaraderie that he experienced while working with JR in the paint shop. JR and his teammates have worked on a number of high profile exterior jobs in the past year. Fairbanks Hall, Wilkinson, and Burt just to name a few.  JR has developed good relationships with both customers and coworkers, he is good at accurate estimates and letting the customer know the details of the job. Extra accommodations, working late, working weekends, changing the color are not a problem for Junior but rather something he takes in stride to deliver high quality customer centric service. He does this with a good-natured attitude and willingness to do what it takes to satisfy the customer and make the team look good.  Many customers write or call extolling his virtues.
